This photo I think depicts everything of early village life, although only taken in 1910 it portrays itself of a much, much earlier time in history. Man, Children, Dog, Horses and just look at the little thatched single story dwelling a prime example of a early village simple existence. At the gate is Tom Hill and his granddaughter, the lad astride the horse is Samuel Awre and holding the horses is Lewin Gorin, latter to be killed in the First World War 1914/18. The old thatch once stood on the top right of what is known to the villager’s as the skittle ally, and was facing the Red Hart Inn, in the right background is Jasmine Cott
